Capturing Innovation with Event Video Production: Waterbridge Media at the 2025 IHE North America Connectathon Week
- Brian Frank
When Canada Health Infoway brought one of the world’s most important health IT interoperability events to Canada for the first time ever, they needed a video production partner they could trust to capture the energy, collaboration, and innovation of the week's long event. Waterbridge Media was delighted to step into that role for the 2025 IHE North America Connectathon Week, held in Toronto from February 3–7, 2025.
Hosted by Canada Health Infoway in partnership with IHE USA, IHE Canada, and supported by IHE Catalyst, HIMSS, RSNA, and others, this event brought together global leaders in digital health to advance interoperability — the seamless, secure exchange of healthcare information across systems and borders.
A Comprehensive Visual Strategy
Waterbridge was tasked with delivering a full suite of video products that would not only document the event but amplify its reach and impact well beyond the conference floor. Our scope included:
-
Event Photography: Capturing hundreds of high-quality images across five days — from technical sessions and hands-on testing to social events and spontaneous networking moments. These images helped reflect both the professional rigor and human connections that define Connectathon Week.
-
Connectathon Week Video Recap: A flagship highlight reel summarizing the scale, diversity, and significance of the event, delivered in both horizontal and vertical formats — plus a subtitled version for Francophone audiences.
-
Deep Dive Recap Videos: A trio of focused videos zeroing in on three major tracks — Experience Days, the Pan-Canadian Plugathon, and the Pan-Canadian Projectathon. Each one told a distinct story while contributing to the broader narrative of connected care.
-
“Interoperability is a Team Sport” Interview Series: Live-style interviews with healthcare leaders and technical experts from Canada and abroad, filmed directly from the event floor. These candid conversations spotlighted insights and forward-looking strategies that are shaping the future of digital health collaboration.
Bringing Vision to Life
From day one, Waterbridge collaborated closely with Canada Health Infoway’s communications team to ensure our work aligned with their nuanced goals: to document, celebrate, and share the tangible progress being made in healthcare interoperability. By combining sharp visuals with thoughtful storytelling captured from on-floor interviews at the event, we created a content package that not only captured what happened but also why it mattered.
